I've been dreaming of owning a super 8 camera forever. Don't ask me why; I just did. And yes, that's past-tense for a reason. Sometimes, dreams come true.
Doug and I were at a yard sale on Saturday when we found a box. I don't remember who actually saw it first but I immediately claimed it as mine. There was a sticker on the side that said 'make an offer' so I did. The family running the sale told me that the grandparents got this camera when the daughter was born and *gasp!* never used it.
So now, I have a super 8. For reasons I cannot fully fathom, this is the only super 8 camera in existence that I can't find a manual for. I guess I'm just going to have to order some film and hope for the best.

happiness
Isn't this how it always goes? I don't post for a week or two and then I suddenly flood the blog with recent photos taken all at once. That's just how it goes sometimes. I'm sorry? Maybe...
Truthfully, I post in fits and bursts because that's when I have free time. Time to shoot, time to edit, time to blog, time to breathe... Sometimes that means that I have photos in my blogging queue that never see the light of day. They lose relevance when they sit on my desktop too long. This time, I wanted to share them before they got buried under the photos of the upcoming weeks.
After all, these are what make me happy.
I make ridiculously cute happy sounds when I watch my boss with his daughter.
I love to sit there and kiss Doug's freckles.
I smile every time I walk past the grapevine.
I stopped and stared while one cow nuzzled and licked the other.
I laughed until water almost came out my nose at Brotherface slurping Ramen.
These are the moments that have been getting buried in my 'to blog' pile, yet these are the moments that remind me why I blog in the first place. This started as an open letter home as to how I was enjoying my life. Now I'm home and the function has changed: this blog now serves as an open letter to the world about how amazing and wonderful and full of love home really is.

summertime and the living is easy
Today I was feeling very summer-y and wanted to go for a walk. As usual, we ended up at Chapel Trail Nature Preserve. It was hot and the humidity was so thick I swear I could see it; nothing was stirring, other than us. The sun was high overhead and our shadows were kind of long. It may not have been ideal for photos but it was just what I needed: some time to shoot and relax and enjoy myself.
The best part of adventuring is sharing the sights with someone else.
This was an outtake for this shot but it conveys perfectly what made me the happiest: the clouds and my mister.
All of these shots were edited with Florabella Vintage Summer at a low opacity to give them a vintage summer-y feel.
